Additional support

During these unprecedented times there will be a lot of upheaval and uncertainty.

We are already though, seeing some of the positive side-effects with time being freed from all the usual activities and gifting us the opportunity to reconnect as families. It was starkly illuminated to me last week as I realised I’d only used my car twice!!

I’m pretty sure the planet is heaving an enormous sigh of relief too.

How I can support

In the next few months I’ll be shifting my focus a little as that’s what I feel will be most helpful for other parents. I’d love to share all my skills.

  • Naturally I am able to effectively offer help with eating challenges!
  • But I am also a trained telephone support worker for ParentHelpline and get ongoing training around parenting strategies.
  • I love doing recipe development, with a focus on foods that do rock for children who find food difficult.
  • I have also – via personal circumstances – lived on an extremely tight budget and still put great food on the table for the family

I’d like to combine all of these in my FB group Creating Confident Eaters.

If/when NZ does decide to close schools there are many resources to share that will help with keeping the children occupied and learning, often with a focus on building more of a comfort level around food. I’d love to have you join us: https://www.facebook.com/groups/222522335605100/

Finally, if your child is already uncomfortable around food, they may channel new anxieties into their eating. Finding they are eating less, or dropping variety or becoming more rigid in their demands is probably an external sign of a bit more inner turmoil. If you would like support I’m always available to chat.

I hope that you and your family are safe and well.
