Avocado smoothie
I love experimenting with food and recipes, especially looking for things that I feel will tick boxes for fussy eaters.
Yesterday I wanted to add avocado to a smoothie but not have the taste overpower the other ingredients.
I made it, tasted it, and was amazed at how creamy it was. Often I do add cream and yoghurt to smoothies. This was, if anything more creamy, and had neither.
I gave it to my young teen who complained that I only ever make small quantities of the ‘good’ stuff! It really was delicious.
Word of caution: The creaminess but not the taste of the avocado is evident if you eat/drink immediately. If left for a while, the flavour of the avocado is more prominent.
Avocados are a great source of good fats, nutrients, and fibre.
Recipe
½ cup milk
½ avocado
½ cup berries (I used blackberries as they have a strong flavour)
1 frozen banana (the taste is noticeable)
1 tsp vanilla
Blitz and serve
