Soft, pliable flat breads
My boys love my flat breads, but always complain they don’t roll. So I’ve been experimenting and guess what?!!
These are more of a faff to make, but I have to say they taste great and they are soft and bendy.
Recipe
½ cup warm milk (can swap for water)
½ cup warm water
1 tsp yeast
2 + cups flour (I used half wholemeal and half white – all white will make softer)
1 tsp salt
I cheated and threw it all in my bread maker just to knead the dough. You could also use the dough function on a mixer. If making by hand combine and then knead for 10 mins.
I added a touch more flour (2 tsps) as it was a little wet
Cover and let dough rise for an hour
Roll into discs on a floured surface
Fry on the stove in a frying pan at a medium/high heat until puffing up. Flip and cook until browning. The longer you fry the drier it becomes, so it’s a balancing act between not burning and not cooking for too long!
Serve with favourite fillings!
