Cheesy pastry biscuits
Adding things into a hesitant eater’s diet, even if it’s a new carb option is positive.
Home-made pastry can be a good way to introduce change, plus give you new options to work on.
These pastry biscuits are super simple to make, calorie dense and work well on their own or with toppings.
Recipe – Cheesy pastry biscuits
1 cup flour (I used wholemeal)
55 gms butter
50 gms cheese (I used tasty)
Pinch salt
1 egg yolk
¼ + 1/8 cup cold water (more or less depending on flour)
Method
Heat oven to 180°
Put flour, butter, salt and cheese in a food processor and create a crumb (or manually rub for same effect)
Put the mixture in a bowl and add the egg yolk and water
Mix to form a soft but not sticky dough
Roll thinly and cut into ‘biscuits’
Bake on a silicon tray or baking paper for approx. 12 mins until browning
Eat as is or spread with butter/favourite spread or add cheese etc. We loved it with butter and Vegemite!
