Cereal volcano
I created a breakfast volcano about 8 years ago for my boys.
I love putting the fun into food, especially for fussy eaters.
The one I did initially was made from muesli with a home-made coulis for ‘lava’. You can watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVi6sOs0fy0&feature=youtu.be
Today, I whipped up a far simpler one that could tick boxes for many picky eaters.
I used Weetbix as that is what I had to hand, but it would work with most boxed cereals. You could crush pieces or just build a cone shape from Rice Bubbles or Cocopops, for example.
The ‘lava’ could be:
– regular milk, with or without food colouring
– berry yoghurt (which is what I’ve used in the photo)
– fresh or frozen berries blitzed to make a sauce (with or without sweetener).
It’s great theatre and changes up a regular breakfast to something exciting.
You can go fancy and add nuts, seeds, dried fruit etc. as ‘rocks’.
