Candied apples
I was experimenting with candied grapes and my son asked could he try it with apples. I thought that was an inspired idea, especially as many fussy eaters are comfortable eating apples.
I had a little lime jelly (jello) powder left over. If green is not a big hit in your house, then picking a different flavour will give a new colour.
I’m not someone who enjoys super sweet things but the combination of the intense sugar hit with the crunch of the apple is really quite pleasant – especially for me, with the sour lime too.
Then when I was discussing the candied grapes one of the parents in my FB group said she’d love it if it worked on kumara (sweet potato). I decided to take the challenge 😉
I’m sure she was thinking cooked orange sweet potato, but I love it raw (yes, you can eat it uncooked) so decided to try. It was okay but honestly, will not rave like I would about the fruit!!
Recipe
Slice an apple
Wash the segments and leave wet
Dip in jelly crystals
Place in the fridge for 1 hour to let the gelatin act
Eat as is
