French stick

Mine doesn’t look particularly ‘stick-like’ as I was in a rush.

But this super simple, no knead recipe means children can pretty much do it themselves.

Making dough is a great science experiment.

And home-made always beats store bought.

Recipe – French stick

1 cup warm water
1 tbs yeast
½ tsp sugar (I used coconut)
1 tsp sale
2 ¼ cups flour (I used wholemeal)

Method

Add yeast to water and allow to sit for 10 mins
Combine sugar, salt and flour in a bowl
Add the yeasty water and combine well
Cover and leave to rise for 1 ½ hours
Heat oven to 240°
Form the dough into a French stick shape, twist slightly
Bake for approx. 25 mins
