Chocolate custard

This did not start out as chocolate custard!

However, the final version is way better than where it was going.

My teen, who apparently doesn’t like custard, waltzed away with the whole (big) bowl

Custard is full of protein & especially this version!

Recipe – Chocolate custard

Cool ingredients
½ egg
1 egg yolk
67.5 g milk
13 g cornflour
10 g sugar (I used coconut)
25 g cocoa powder
Heated ingredients
77.5 g milk
60 g cream cheese (I used Philadelphia)
10 g sugar (add more to taste)
½ tsp vanilla

Method

Whisk together eggs, sugar, milk, cornflour, cocoa powder until smooth. Set aside.
On a low heat, whisk together cream cheese, milk, sugar & vanilla until the cream cheese melts & mixture is smooth.
Allow to cool slightly.
Add to cooled mixture carefully while whisking.
Return all ingredients to the pan & whisk on a medium heat until custard thickens & starts to bubble
Serve warm or cold
