Rice pudding

For some children sweet/pudding/dessert is easier than savoury. If our child looks forward to eating something then they are more likely to enjoy it. Rice pudding may be a way to take that step towards rice for children not yet eating it.

If our child is eating rice then presenting a different taste and texture is always positive. My teen was excited 😊

Remember, although I have a recipe for this anything goes. I know that a mum earlier in the week posted that her son is now eating rice because it was mixed with milk and sugar.

In the photo the recipe I have followed uses brown rice and coconut sugar so it’s not as white as you will get with white rice and regular sugar.

Recipe*

30g rice (short-grain works best for rice pudding)
300mls milk
1 heaped tsp sugar (adjust to taste)

Place in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Bring the milk to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally until it gets ‘pudding-like’.
