Simple Christmas biscuits
These are fun as not only are they edible, but you can also hang them on the tree!
Go plain or add icing and decorations.
They can be formed into Christmassy shapes or the first letter of a name or anything else that would resonate with your child.
Aside from time to chill the dough they are super quick and simple to make.
Recipe Christmas biscuits
56gms butter (softened)
20gms sugar (I used coconut) – double for sweet biscuits
¼ tbs honey
½ egg (small-med sized)
88gms flour (I used wholemeal)
¼ tsp baking soda
Pinch nutmeg
1/3 tsp cinnamon powder
Method
Heat oven to 170° fan
Cream together butter, sugar and honey (I used a food processor)
Add the egg and blend
Add dry ingredients and mix to form a dough
Roughly roll out the dough on a silicon sheet or baking paper
Let the dough chill for at least one hour in the fridge (I made in the morning and baked later)
Roll out the dough on a floured board to approx ½ cm thickness
Cut into shapes
Place on silicon sheet or baking tray
Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes until browning (I accidentally overcooked mine so should be lighter than the photo!!)
If you are hanging on the tree poke a small hole to thread through
Allow to cool on a wire rack
Leave plain or add icing/decoration
