Creating Confident Eaters

Do you have a picky eater?

  • Would you love to stop wasting food?
  • Have the kids trying new things happily?
  • Be able to add more fruit and vegetables?
  • Challenge those stubborns!

The Confident Eater supports parents/caregivers to get picky eaters eating. The guide, Creating Confident Eaters, is a combination of the “wow, I’d never have thought of that” moments that we get from clients.

It’s less of a book and more of a manual, laying out practical, hands-on, accessible strategies for the average parent who finds feeding their child variety a struggle.

Who is it for?

It was initially written with the parents of fussy eaters in mind, however, it is as valuable a resource for any parent who would love to understand how to gently increase the number of foods eaten.

It is not telling parents what to feed their children (there are a million people better equipped to do that), but is showing them how to get foods eaten.

We are often convinced to “out-source” our parenting and yet no one is as focused, spends as much time, is as invested or knows our child like we do.

I believe that in almost all cases that parents are the ones best placed to resolve eating issues in their own home. They just need the tools. And, those tools are not something that is readily available.

We hope that the guide goes some way towards providing that resource for parents.

What’s inside?

The guide is like a giant picture book for adults. Although it is very image based (as it is aimed at the average, time-poor, stressed out parent) it is deceptively simple while still conveying quite complex concepts.

It has also been designed with a time-poor parent in mind so text is decent size, the guide opens flat to enable caregivers to write notes and it is broken up into bite-sized sections so it can be dipped in and out of.

Who else loves the book?

We were privileged to be able to send an advance copy to Craig Smith, aka The Wonky Donkey man, to use for his young daughter. He loved it and was really happy to endorse the guide by writing the foreword.

We have had some amazing feedback from professionals working with children and The Ministry of Education have taken copies to use in their early years and autism programs.

Although I would love more sales 😊 I would love more that there are parents who are able to get hold of a copy of the guide and utilise the strategies be able to make progress in the eating sphere. Nothing makes me happier than knowing I’ve made a difference to another family.

How does it work?

The overriding concept of the guide is that change is the precursor to new and that accepting change will, over time support new steps. It is all about how to do that by meeting our child where they at (even if that is the same thing every day).

It contains practical, simple and gentle activities that you can try with your child.

All the strategies we promote have been proven to work and often on very challenged eaters. I truly feel this is a resource that can help take away the frustration, guilt and stress that picky eating causes for parents.

Hear from a mum

This is what Phillippa had to say:

Her son is 9 and has ASD. Like many children on the spectrum eating is particularly challenging. His diet is composed of a limited number of really specific foods.
Phillippa was gifted a book and used it exactly as it was designed to be used!
“I got him to eat bread. Slowly making his toast softer each time, then he ate jam sandwiches. Yay so happy he’s never eaten bread only toast”.

Not only does Creating Confident Eaters give you page after page of practical strategies to implement, but it helps you find an approach that really works.
